Understanding Childcare subsidy for Early Education in NSW & Victoria

 The CSS or Child Care Subsidy is a government subsidy that provides various degrees of financial assistance to help Australian families manage the cost of daycare.

How does CCS serve?

The childcare subsidy in NSW is directly paid to providers, who will then pass the benefit onto families in subsidised fees. Eligible families will pay a co-contribution to their child care bills.

To qualify for CCS (Child Care Subsidy), you should:

• Look after a child whose age is 13 years or younger who is not enrolled in secondary school;

• Use an approved child care provider;

be responsible for paying child care expenses; and

• Meet residency and immunisation requirements.

Who will gain from this?

According to the government, the planned CCS amendments will save 250,000 families money on out-of-pocket expenses. According to the budget of 2020–21, 1.3 million families would use CCS-approved child care services in 2022–23. 904,710 families are using the child care service area approved for CCS in the December 2020 quarter.
